A multimedia operation supplying radio, audio, video and text content for national broadcasters and publishers including Channel 4, BBC, RT and assorted independent outfits in Ireland and the UK. Genres include factual documentary, drama, music live and pre-recorded, visual art and short form speech output.

Current & Recent Productions include:

AN EYE FULL, a series of fifteen short form location features in which well known Irish people, representing diverse walks of life, introduce us to their favourite spot in Ireland: a place in which they revel, reminisce, dream, relax, go wild. The features broadcast at 10 minutes to the top of the hour on Newstalk 106 – 108 FM on both the June and August Bank Holiday Mondays this year.  Produced by Maud Handwith the assistance of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound & Vision Fund, reporter Sarah Keatinggoes on location to meet the contributors for ‘an eye full’ of their chosen spot.

HOME THOUGHTS FROM ABROAD – This series of seven short form features broadcast on Newstalk 106 – 108 FMs on May Bank Holiday Monday 2010. Produced by Maud Hand with the assistance of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound & Vision Fund, each package features a passionate member of our growing immigrant community as they introduce us to their home country from the context of their life in Ireland. An audio portrait of their dual worlds is conveyed.

SOSHIN’S STORY, a BCI commission broadcast on Newstalk 106 – 108FM (tx 30.12.08). Podcastable via the documentary zone, it considers the legacy of Maura O’Halloran, an Irish Zen Buddhist immortalised through her book Pure Heart Enlightened Mind – The Life and Letters of an Irish Zen Saint & by those people who continue to be inspired by her over 25 years since her passing.

4TALENT Northern Ireland, formerly IDEASFACTORY, Channel 4’s talent development in broadcast media. Like Channel 4 Radio, it’s undergoing a cost cutting revamp by the broadcaster. Content created during my tenure from 2004 – 2007, is currently offline but there are plans to republish this archive soon.

PEACE KIDS, BBC Radio 4, Revisiting a ground-breaking peace studies programme she co-authored & piloted in Athenry in 1988 to hear how her past pupils, now 28 yr olds, were affected by it and how they’ve evolved since.

UNSCHOOLED, a Testbed Production for BBC Radio 4 which profiles five adults educated at home.

Since returning home in May 2007, Maud has worked as a day-time producer for RTÉ Radio 1’s TODAY WITH PAT KENNY, THE TUBRIDY SHOW, LIVELINE and MOONEY. For RTÉ’s 2FM, she’s produced THE GERRY RYAN SHOW and a series of 3 New Year specials with Ryan Show reporter, Evelyn O’Rourke.

For the BCI’s SOUND & VISION FUND, Maud has six commissions in production: For Newstalk 106 – 108FM in addition to SOSHIN’S STORY; TO HELL OR BARBADOS, The story of the Irish Red Legs enslaved during Cromwellian Times on the Bajan sugar plantations and two series of short form feaures: AN EYEFUL on Irish beauty spots; & HOME THOUGHTS FROM ABROAD – reflections from our incoming cultures on their homes as they go about their business here in Ireland.

For RTÉ Radio 1, PIPPI AND JOHNNY, a documentary on artist, Mairin Kelly and her donkeys. Commissioned as part of the PRIVATE PASSIONS series, a pilot in development between the broadcaster and the independent production sector.

For Shannonside, THE WASHING OF THE WATERS, a personal take on the history of Athlone’s Golden Island river community.

For Galway Bay FM, CAPE TOWN TO CORRANDULLA, a container, two communities and a South African township school – the hidden tales; and POLAROIDS ON THE SALMON WEIR a five part series on the hilarious history of Galway’s hardy tradition of salmon poaching, developed in partnership with Peadar Browne, musician, composer and documentary filmmaker.

As a versatile multimedia producer, editor, presenter and writer, Maud has 20 years experience of producing radio programmes, websites and digital content. She’s project managed PR, fund-raising and creative industry events and exhibitions; presented at international conferences and devised and delivered professional media masterclasses. She provides media coaching and training to the private, public and third level educational sectors in the UK and Ireland. Under her production supervision, Connemara Community Radio won the National New Adventures in Broadcasting Award 2000.
