Gráinne McPolin is an award winning documentary maker and radio producer. Having spent many years as a nurse in frontline healthcare in Ireland and abroad, she decided to follow a career in radio; training as a radio producer with Radio Kerry and the National Digital Skills Centre Kerry Education & Training Board followed by an internship with Newstalk Radio.
Gráinne has monthly features broadcast on RTE Radio 1 ‘Seascapes’ and ‘Drivetime’. She has co-produced a documentary about her time as a nurse in the Middle East with Ronan Kelly for Documentary on One’ which went on to win the 2016 Clarion International Women in Media Award; she also provided soundscape audio for the Doc on One production ‘Roger Casement’s Apocalypse Now: Africa & 2016’.
Gráinne has had her work broadcast on CBC Canadian Broadcasting Corporation exploring connections between Kerry and Newfoundland, Canada. Gráinne is currently producing her second documentary due for broadcast later this year on Newstalk with the backing of grant funding from the Broadcast Authority of Ireland.
