Deirdre Mulrooney

Deirdre is a writer, director, and documentary maker (film & radio), based in Dublin, Ireland. Deirdre’s radio documentaries have been broadcast on RTE Lyric FM, Newstalk 106 - 108 fm and on RTE Radio One (“Nice Moves”, 5 part series, May 2004). They are mostly available on Mixcloud. Deirdre is a regular contributor to RTE Radio Arts Shows, has contributed many radio essays to RTE Sunday Miscellany, and has also contributed to RTE Radio One’s The History Show, and Today Show, among others.

Deirdre’s film “Damhsa na hEigeandala” (Dance Emergency), was broadcast on TG4 and “1943 – A Dance Odyssey” was broadcast on RTE One, as well as at several festivals including Galway FIlm Fleadh 2014 and Lincoln Center NYC Dance on Camera Festival 2016.

Deirdre is also an author and dance historian. Her publications include “Irish Moves, an illustrated history of dance and physical theatre in Ireland” (Dublin: The Liffey Press, 2006), and her PhD on influential German choreographer Pina Bausch,“The Nomadic Work of Pina Bausch” (Frankfurt: Peter Lang GmbH, 2002; Ebook version: Dublin: Grand Canal Publishing, 2015).
