Who we are and what we do
AIRPI is a national association set up by independent radio producers to promote the development of professional independent production in radio in Ireland. Our aims are to:
- Promote the growth and development of independent radio production.
- Provide networking and professional development opportunities to members on a national level.
- Represent the issues and concerns of independent radio producers.

AIRPI is an association run by independent radio producers for independent radio producers on a voluntary basis. Our future success depends on members’ active involvement and support and on funding from external sources.
Who can join
There are three categories of membership, i.e. full, associate, and company membership. The questions below help us decide which category best suits you. As the sector continues to evolve here in Ireland, our membership criteria will also evolve in line with industry developments. These distinctions are not watertight as an individual’s circumstances can change over time. AIRPI aims to be flexible and fleet of foot. We review these categories annually to ensure they’re practical and useful for our members.
Membership of AIRPI is aimed at those who are producing creative content for Irish radio on a professional basis, whether full-time or part-time.
You may apply for full membership if:
- You are sourcing funding for some or all of your radio work
- You are producing creative content for radio outside your regular radio work
- You are registered as a sole trader or company for your radio work
All applications for full membership must be accompanied by evidence of your having had broadcast at least one programme/ piece of creative content of any genre. Please send details of where and when broadcast and full programme credits.
The current annual fee for full membership is €200.
You may apply for associate membership if:
- You have experience of radio broadcasting and an interest in developing professionally on an independent basis.
- You are operating independently in some aspect of radio broadcasting other than production, e.g. presentation, voice-over, technician, script-writing.
The current annual fee for associate membership is €100.
NEW RATE for companies with several members wishing to join up:
€300. A company may send up to three representatives to any AIRPI event.
Membership renewal is due at the time of the AGM, usually held in April. Your membership entitles you to attend all AIRPI events from the date of renewal until the next AGM.

- unrestricted access to the AIRPI website inc. message board service
- an opportunity to showcase their audio productions on the website
Associate members get a selection of services:
- access to database of associate members & other radio industry contacts
- access to legal, technical and business expertise in independent radio production
- access to tailored training and professional development events. Associate members are entitled to attend two training events for free in any one year and further events on payment of a fee.

Membership is processed monthly by our AIRPI steering committee. Your application will be acknowledged on receipt and we may need to contact you for further information as we process your data.
